A Day of Fun

Yesterday, Kirk's squadron had a family bbq. We enjoy smoked brisket, ribs and other great meats for $2 a plate! The rest was potluck and luckily we got signed up to bring water. Easy and yummy lunch, that I didn't have to make or clean up! Gotta love it. I was really surprised how big Hill Air Force Base really is. It's huge. Kirk drove us by the building he works in. Not much to it. Since we were already going to be up north of Salt Lake, we decided to take the kids to Lagoon.

Lauren dosed off from Hill AFB to Lagoon (about 15 minutes). We started on the rides about 1:30 and played hard until 10:30. The kids were troopers and had a great time. When we got there, Tyce saw the old white roller coaster and told Kirk that he wanted to go on it. This was the kids first time being to an amusement park. Tyce's first ride is a roller coaster. Kirk said that after the big hill, Tyce was in tears and cried the rest of the ride. They came over to the Merry-go-round where Lauren and I were. He wasn't crying, but he didn't want to go on it again. We headed over to the kiddy area. Lauren was tall enough to go on most of the kid rides plus some others. However, we didn't feel like she was quite ready for some of the roller coasters. There was one small one she was clinging to me and then she suddenly put both hands up in the air. Love it!

We walked over to go on the Raging Rapids to cool off a little bit (it was a beautiful 90 F = 32 C). Unfortunately that ride was closed and the Octopus ride broke down just before we got on. We headed over to the splash area and the kids were able to cool off a bit. Tyce was absolutely soaked. Lauren, not so much. Just enough to cool off.

Tyce got braver and braver. He loved the LadyBug Bop (a 40 ft drop), BomBora (a roller coaster), the Bat (a roller coaster), the swings (small and big), bumper cars (he had learned how by playing the Oscar the Ground Bumper Cars on pbs.org lol).

We had a great day. We all came home exhausted, but a good time was had by all! Next week, Kirk and I are hoping to Bounce Back (go back for $10 within 10 days of your first trip) without the kids and try the big rides. I did sneak away and went on the new Wicked and it was AWESOME!! Wow...that's a great roller coaster. I also did the Rocket re-entry - only a 200 ft drop. It was scary but fun too.

Happy kids, great weather, short lines, time together. Great memories made.

You guys are such fun parents. I had the strangest urge to come ride the rides with you Ange, and I imagined all the fun we'd have. :)

Looks like you guys are having a blast this summer! My Mother in law lives close to Hill Airforce Base. Cool!
